What We Do

Common Toilet Problems We Fix

From a quick flapper swap to a full comfort-height installation, our licensed plumbers handle it all in a single visit.

New Toilet Installation

We install standard and comfort-height toilets from leading brands. Whether you're replacing an aging unit or roughing in a brand-new bathroom, we handle removal, supply, installation, and testing.

Running Toilet Repair

A constantly running toilet is a water-waster. We diagnose and replace worn flappers, faulty fill valves, and flush valves so your toilet seals correctly and stops running between flushes.

Wax Ring Replacement

Water pooling around the base of your toilet is a sign the wax ring has failed. Left alone, it causes floor rot and subfloor damage. We reseat the toilet and install a fresh wax ring — properly torqued and tested.

Handle & Flush Mechanism

A broken handle, weak flush, or toilet that requires multiple flushes usually means internal hardware has worn out. We replace flush handles, trip levers, and complete flush valve assemblies.

Toilet Removal & Disposal

Replacing an old unit? We remove the existing toilet and haul it away so you don't have to worry about disposal. No extra trips, no mess left behind.

Dual-Flush & Low-Flow Upgrades

Modern WaterSense-certified toilets use as little as 1.28 gallons per flush. We install dual-flush and low-flow models that cut water usage significantly without sacrificing performance.

Common Issue

Upgrading to a Water-Efficient Toilet

If you can hear water trickling in the tank long after flushing, your toilet is running — and costing you money. A running toilet wastes more than 200 gallons of water per day, which can add over $70 to your monthly Indianapolis water bill without you even noticing.

The three most common causes are simple to fix:

  • 1.
Worn flapper. The rubber flapper at the bottom of the tank degrades over time and stops forming a watertight seal. Water slowly leaks from the tank into the bowl, triggering the fill valve to run constantly.
  • 2.
Faulty fill valve. The fill valve controls how water enters the tank. When it wears out, it either fails to shut off completely or allows water to flow past it into the overflow tube.
  • 3.
Float set too high. If the float is adjusted too high, water rises above the overflow tube and constantly drains into the bowl. A quick adjustment fixes this in minutes.

In most cases a running toilet is a repair — not a replacement. Our plumbers carry common parts on the truck and can often fix it the same day you call. If you have a dripping faucet as well, we can knock out both on a single visit.

Honest Advice

When to Replace vs. Repair

We'll always tell you the most cost-effective path — even if that means a simple repair instead of a new toilet.

Repair Makes Sense When…

  • Your toilet is less than 15 years old
  • The problem is isolated — one bad flapper or fill valve
  • The porcelain is in good condition with no cracks
  • You've only needed one repair in the past few years

Replacement Is Worth It When…

  • Your toilet is over 15 years old
  • You see cracks in the porcelain tank or bowl
  • You've repaired it multiple times in the last year
  • It was manufactured before 1994 and uses 3.5–7 gallons per flush

Pre-1994 toilets used 3.5 to 7 gallons per flush. Today's WaterSense-certified models use just 1.28 gallons. For a household of four people flushing five times per day, switching to a modern low-flow toilet can save more than 8,000 gallons of water per year — which means lower utility bills every single month. If your home still has original 1980s or early-1990s toilets, replacement often pays for itself within a year or two. If you're also dealing with a slow drain in the same bathroom, we can evaluate both during the same appointment.

Accessibility & Comfort

Comfort Height & ADA Toilets

Standard toilets sit at about 15 inches from the floor to the seat. Comfort-height toilets — sometimes called ADA-height or chair-height — measure 17 to 19 inches, roughly the same height as a standard chair. That few extra inches makes a significant difference in daily comfort.

Comfort-height models are especially beneficial for:

  • Taller adults who find standard toilets uncomfortable
  • Seniors who have difficulty sitting down and standing up
  • Anyone recovering from knee, hip, or back surgery
  • Households planning for aging-in-place accessibility

Indiana Flow installs comfort-height toilets on request. Just mention it when you call or fill out the estimate form and we'll include comfort-height options in your quote.

FAQs

Toilet Questions We Hear Every Day

How much does toilet installation cost?

Toilet installation pricing depends on whether you're supplying the toilet or want us to, the type of unit (standard vs. comfort-height vs. dual-flush), and whether any supply line or shut-off valve work is needed. Indiana Flow provides upfront Good/Better/Best estimates online before we ever show up — no surprise charges when the job is done.

Can you fix a running toilet instead of replacing it?

In most cases, yes. If the toilet is under 15 years old and the porcelain is intact, a running toilet is almost always a repair rather than a replacement. Common fixes — flapper, fill valve, or float adjustment — are inexpensive and take less than an hour. We'll tell you honestly if replacement is actually the better value.

How long does toilet installation take?

A standard toilet swap takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. That includes shutting off water, removing the old unit, installing the new wax ring and toilet, connecting the supply line, and testing for leaks. If the shutoff valve or supply line also needs replacement, add another 30 minutes. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we quote the job.

What toilet brands do you recommend?

We install whatever brand the homeowner prefers, but for reliability and parts availability we commonly recommend TOTO, Kohler, and American Standard. All three offer WaterSense-certified models with strong warranties, and parts are easy to source if anything ever needs servicing down the road.

Do you haul away the old toilet?

Yes. When we install a new toilet we remove the old one and haul it away as part of the job. You don't need to arrange disposal separately. Just let us know at booking so we can plan accordingly.
